Trinity Lutheran Church touches the lives of parishioners and families locally, across the region, and around the world, with the gracious Good News of God’s redeeming and renewing love in Jesus Christ. Trinity has been sharing this witness since 1769, prior to the American Revolution, for over 240 years.

Parishioners of Trinity are people from every walk of life in Bedford Community – children, youth, adults... women and men... married and singles... those in school, in the work force, in retirement. Many parishioners are active in the social, governmental, and volunteer affairs of the community.  It’s hard to go anywhere in the Bedford area and not encounter a “Trinitarian”. Trinity has served as a “training ground” for countless seminarians preparing to the serve the Church... Many pastors have served Trinity with faithfulness and distinction, and some have gone on to serve the Church as Missionaries, Seminary Faculty, and has even had a pastor go on to serve the Church as a Bishop... Trinity has, indeed, been richly blessed as a congregation comprised of diverse, talented, and devoted parishioners and pastors.

Worship is our primary purpose, since after all, that’s why God created us. It is fitting for we who have been blessed by our Creator, to give Him thanks and praise. And so, as you visit the pages of this site, you will quickly sense the significant place our worship life holds in this Community of Faith.

We worship in a rather traditional way, owing to the classic traditions of the Western Church. Our liturgies (a word which means “work of the people”) are rooted in the ancient orders of the Catholic Mass which engage worshipers through readings of the Sacred Scriptures, singing hymns of the Church composed by ancient and contemporary writers, professing the Ancient Trinitarian Creeds of the Church, joining our hearts and minds in prayer, and encountering God in the Blessed Sacrament, the True Body and Precious Blood of His Son, our Lord Jesus, the sacred meal of the Church. The ceremonies and pageantry of the Church’s rich liturgical tradition inspire us to see God in His holiness, splendor, and majesty. We transcend time, worshiping with the saints through the ages, and continuing to evolve in our own day, bearing the marks of those who have gone before us in this rich and abiding faith.

Sacraments – Holy Things ordained by God – define us... Holy Baptism, Confession & Absolution, and The Lord’s Supper. We are a people born in sin, washed and claimed by God through the Water and the Holy Spirit... We are a people who stray from the path of righteousness, and through God’s Word of Reconciliation we are forgiven and restored... We are a people who are nurtured and fed by God’s gift of His own Son’s Body and Blood, handled under the forms of Bread and Wine...

Marriage, the sacred union of husband and wife... Ordination, the setting apart of those to the Sacred Ministry... Confirmation, the fulfillment of the Baptismal Rites which seal us in the power of the Holy Spirit... and Rites with Dying, prayers and a final anointing... Funerals, the Rite of Christian Burial... These are all special rites which we celebrate and observe, as we pass through the days of this life with one another, and hear God’s Word and Presence in our midst.

Christian Education and Spiritual Formation is a focus with Children, Youth, and Adults of the parish, in a variety of settings... Fellowship events, for the sake of establishing firm bonds of friendship between brothers and sisters in the Faith, are regularly coordinated for children, youth, and adults, and families as well.

Servant-hood is the model of life we see when we attend to the way of our Lord, Jesus Christ. And so, responding to His call to care for one another, even the least of these, and following his Way, we give ourselves and our resources over to those who stand in need of charity, grace, and compassion. Feeding the Hungry, Clothing the Naked, providing warmth and shelter to those cold and vulnerable. We serve as a distribution site for Salvation Army ministries, traveler’s aid, purchase winter clothing for local children, and coordinate a free weekly meal (every Tuesday) at 5:30 p.m. for the needy of our community, to name but a few of the ministries we support and perform.

Trinity Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Allegheny Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Through our partnership with these broader expressions for the Church, we participate in Global Missionary Ventures, National and Global Humanitarian Aid in places and times of scarcity and Natural Disasters, Theological Education and Spiritual Formation for those responding to a Call to the Serve the Church as a Pastor or in some other capacity, and Ecumenical and Interfaith conversations to promote unity and understanding among people of various traditions and cultures.

Ours is a Faith which we practice, and which informs the way we think about ourselves, our neighbors, and our resources. We strive to grow in faithful discipline and conform our lives to the way of our Lord, who taught us to love, forgive, and respond charitably at every turn. Surely none of us have yet achieved or perfected this goal, but by the grace of God through the power of the Holy Spirit and the encouragement of our sisters and brothers in the Faith, we strive to live more fully, every day, toward the Holy Way.

Others who would like to journey with us are certainly welcome to join us on the Savior’s Way. We warmly invite you to come among us as we worship, learn. grow, and serve others, in the Name of our life-giving Lord, Jesus Christ. For in our Lord, Jesus Christ, we have come to know forgiveness, reconciliation, healing and grace... renewal, hope, joy, and life. As His disciples, we welcome you to share in His Way.
